- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆My daughter has power of attorney for her fiance who is in the military and deployed to Okinawa. For the past two years he had received 'free' service from H&R Block at another location in the Valley. However, this location did not advise fees up front and charged $0 for the federal and $45 for a state form...both EZs. He didn't even have to file AZ since there was no state income tax withheld. They did it this way so he could save $4 on the Federal. Otherwise they would have charged $49! Had they been honest about their fees my daughter could have made the choice to leave. She could have made that choice at the end as well, but she felt obligated to pay. She received no satisfaction and had to pay the $45. These were EZ forms that a monkey could have prepared! This franchise is a rip off. The manager said that they gave her a 'bargain' by charging the state fee...again there were not state taxes withheld for any state in the Country! Don't go there. Other H&R Block offices don't charge the military. This one rips them off. Buyer beware!!By Edward OReilly, March 26, 2017
